AIMS AND GOALS The Web in conjunction with avdanced database-support is a powerful infrastructure for implementing
collaborative intra- and inter-organizational working- and business processes.
Intelligent process-oriented integration of activities by use of distributed service-oriented architecture (especially web-services) is the key answer on web-oriented architectural concerns, with the goal of improved efficiency and performance for nearly any kind of business.
The most important semantic models of serious web-based applications are process-systems. (Therefore one of the central elements of the recent hype called "semantic-web" are processes-modells which coordinate the work of participants in a process-manner.)
The basic idea of the UF webservices based workfow management and process integration toolset (UF-WPI)
is therefore an easily adaptable multipurpose platform which can be used in conjunction with different standards in various areas,
application-scenarios and projects, but with an own stable background process-theory (Webservice-Nets).

ARCHITECTURE The UFWPI toolset is based on several basic concepts. Web-Services, Webservice-Nets (a special kind of higher Petri-Nets), XML/XML-Schema data and advanced XML- and object-relational-database-connectivity.
It supports acutal process-standards by concept-mapping/binding.
The basic architechtural components are displayed in the following image:

A demo-screenshot of the Persistent Process Modeler Assistant is given in the following image:
